I know that people will say that Scully is a good painter but seems to come up a little short in bigger overviews of his work, and people say that Kiefer is a bit &#8220;conservative&#8221; &#8211; I disagree with both thoughts. I love the power of AK&#8217;s paintings as well as the pure optical quality &#8211; and they always take over the space they are in &#8211; I can&#8217;t say that about a lot of others work. Scully is just as strong &#8211; although I guess you can&#8217;t really talk about SS as a &#8220;optical&#8221; painter &#8211; however he works for me from both a conceptual as well as a visual\/optical approach. <\/p>\n<p>The DADA show I&#8217;ve been waiting to see since I was in high school.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DADA &#8211; National Gallery of ArtFebruary 19 &#8211; May 14 Anselm Kiefer &#8211; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden June 18 &#8211; September 10, 2006!
