The script is based on Dali and I by the Belgian author Stan Lauryssens, a journalist who has written five books on the Third Reich, as well as the prize-winning thriller Black Snow. Dali and I relates Lauryssens’ experiences as Dali’s neighbor during his final years in the village of Cadaques in Spain.
