Art periodicals that are art objects

Is publishing art dead? I don’t think so especially with new “publications” like The Thing Quarterly and North Drive Press stepping up to deliver some really interesting packages of high quality – low cost art objects.

This winter I received the latest North Drive Press and was thrilled with the package. Your mileage may vary, but these are really a lot of bang for the buck.

THE NYART BOOK FAIR 28-30 September 2007

From the Press Release – “The second annual fair of contemporary art books, art catalogues, artists’ books, art periodicals, and ‘zines offered for sale by over 120 international publishers, booksellers, and antiquarian dealers.”

I love art books and I love books as art. This is really the best of both worlds as far as art/books/book arts go, and it’s free to get in. Thats a great price. If I were in NYC that weekend, I would be there. So should you.

Art Book Swap in NYC

Apologies in advance as I have ripped this article off from Paddy Johnson at Art Fag City

Date: Saturday, May 19, 2007
Time: Noon to 6pm
Location: West 27th Street between 11th and 12th Avenues

Time to get rid of all those “books” you bought “for research”. May 19th between 12 and 6 NADA (The New Art Dealers Association) and Regency Arts Press Ltd. sets up in Chelsea and just like the government are here to help. Visitors can either swap their books (one for one) at no charge or pay $5 for three, $10 for six, $15 for nine books, etc. All unsold items are donated to The Prisoner Reading Encouragement Program.
